1st through 6th Grade Recommendations

The Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood's (CCC) Phonics and Math programs were developed at Rocky Bayou Christian School (RBCS) in Niceville, Florida, as a result of what RBCS students were achieving regularly-with delight! For over two decades now, home schoolers have been accomplishing similar results-high spiritual, moral, and academic fruit. Some elements of these excellent programs-which are saturated with Scripture and its principles-overlap into the elementary grades. Christ-Centered Phonics is suitable for beginning readers as well as older students needing remediation. (An adult who is a poor reader would profit from the Christ-Centered Phonics Drill Reader; many have also reported using the drill reader successfully as a mission effort while teaching English to foreigners.) Christ-Centered Math Levels A and B should normally be accomplished in either K5 (5-year-old Kindergarten) or Beginning 1st Grade (never schooled before). The recommended products for 2nd-6th grades will likewise provide a strong foundation.

BEGINNING 1st GRADE Recommendations:

If you are a first time buyer of Christ-Centered Curriculum, the following elements are recommended for teaching 5-year-olds or Beginning 1st graders (never schooled previously). All materials below are available individually, or with a 15% discount at Discounted Teaching Packages (except "Optional Other Subjects" items) in the "Teaching K5/B1st Package".

Note: Some of the CCC materials overlap at various ages. The bolded items in "BEGINNING 1st Grade Recommendations" above (plus the Phonics Flashcards Set) are included in the "Teaching A1st/2nd Package" (item 005) at Discounted Teaching Packages. When reordering next year, you will receive a $48.50 credit toward the purchase of the A1st/2nd grade package. "OPTIONAL OTHER SUBJECTS" items are not included in the "Teaching K5/B1st Package." If ordering for multiple ages, begin with the package for the oldest child, then fill in missing elements for your younger child from the Pre-K and Kindergarten Recommendations.

ADVANCED 1st/2nd GRADE Recommendations:

After completing Christ-Centered Phonics Levels B:1, B:2, and B:3, students should go on to Levels C:1, C:2, and C:3. Level C may also be taught to students who have never had Level B, but need to strengthen their phonics understanding. Level C is the culmination of the Christ-Centered Phonics program, which begins with a brief review of vowels/consonants prior to in-depth teaching on consonant digraphs, consonant blends, vowel digraphs, modified vowels, diphthongs, consonant and vowel variants, silent letters, and prefixes/suffixes. Also included are these exercises: Vocabulary Development, Spelling, Cursive Penmanship, alphabetizing, writing, and diagramming of simple sentences as a tool of reading comprehension.

2nd-6th GRADE Recommendations

The 2nd-6th grade materials have been selected for parents requesting recommendations for what to do after completing the CCC phonics and math programs. However, if you've never taught CCC, you would still highly benefit from using the following products:

• Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Spelling
• Professor B's Mathematics Power Learning for Children, Levels I-III
• Our Christian Heritage's History/Geography/Government
